Drama promotes highly transferable skills which students will use in everyday life situations, such as planning, contributing, negotiating, organisation, presentation, evaluating, team work, problem solving and creative thinking. Students develop empathy and emotional maturity by exploring the feelings and viewpoints of others through role-play. Drama also increases confidence and self-esteem by allowing students to trust their ideas and abilities.

Some of the activities explored in drama include mime and movement, improvisation, role-play and characterisation, mood and atmosphere, soap opera, devising from stimulus, script work, theatre arts, acting and directing.

The communication and inter-personal skills acquired through drama are becoming increasingly sought after by employers, which are valued in the currently competitive work environment.
